FROM THE PLAYGROUND TO THE COURSE

The aim of my school's program is to give children who may not have had the opportunity in the past, a chance to try golf. The sessions in the program are designed to introduce golf in a simple, fun and safe manner, using modified equipment called SNAG Golf .

What is SNAG Golf click here to find out more.

As well as learning the basics of golf, the kids will learn a range of physical skills and personal development life skills (strategic thinking & decision making, focus, perseverance, etiquette & self-esteem).The program and the equipment are very versatile meaning the sessions can be conducted in a sports hall, playground or a playing field, before, during or after school. Once a child completes the 5 sessions they will then have the opportunity to continue their golfing journey at City of Derry Golf Club.

GOLF UNITED

Over the past few years I have teamed up with local Charity Golf United, to deliver the GU Program in local Primary Schools.

Golf United aim to use the sport of golf as a platform to  bring together young people from all backgrounds, irrespective of their social, economic, religious or ethnic circumstances and so to encourage participation in a positive pastime.

Another aim is to improve access for everybody to the sport of golf and break down the misconception that golf is an elitist sport.
